Organizer & President

David is the founding organizer and President of Diaspora Federal Credit Union. With a can-do attitude and big dreams Mr. Ochwangi is responsible for the strategic leadership and management of the organization. His desire to “restructure the Diaspora economy” as he puts it, propelled him to push the boundaries into the unknown and found the company to establish a formal corporate platform to build a truly competitive Diaspora led organization to propel economic growth of emerging markets of Kenya, East Africa and beyond. He is a strong believer in the tremendous opportunities that the African continent offers to those who seek and seize them – Diaspora Federal Credit Union offers those opportunities to all who seek them. He chairs the Executive Board, Investments and Strategic Committees.

David Lives in Atlanta with his family. By profession, he is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Management Accountant (CMA) and holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Finance. He has many years of Accounting and Finance experience spanning over more than 18 years in various Corporate Management roles and private practice.

Mary W. Nderitu

VP – Business Development & Customer relations

Wamaitha is a result driven executive with over 10 years’ cross functional experience in client interface and relationship management, project management, diaspora-banking, business development&portfolio growth. She is passionate about helping Kenyans living abroad invest back at home. She believes that Africa’s Diaspora boost the continent’s prosperity and can help shape its economic future. Wamaitha has worked as a Manager responsible for Diaspora Businessdevelopment for some of the major banking institutions in Kenya where sheimplemented diaspora banking strategies, drovemarketing initiatives that enhanced customer satisfaction and retention, offshore agent recruitment, performance and engagement while ensuring operational efficiency and service delivery. She previously worked as a Project Management Consultant for a 4 country Swiss funded programme aimed at ensuring food security in Africa.

Wamaitha holds a bachelor’s degree in finance and accounting. She also has a Graduate Project Management Professional (PMP) from University of Phoenix. She resides in Jacksonville, Florida with her family.

Lillian Okech

Lilly’s organizational prowess has proven invaluable in mobilizing thousands of Kenyan women in the United States and Canada in a social media networking platform on Facebook she founded, Kenyan Women in the United States (KWITU) along with KWITU Inc. an organization geared towards empowering the Kenyan woman both in the USA and back home in the villages of Kenya. We seek to give women an opportunity to support women in need, especially in matters of health care and poverty eradication. Lilly is KWITU’s Power Admin and one of the 300 admins worldwide invited to the first Facebook Community Summit in Chicago by Mark Zuckerberg on behalf of KWITU - one of the 100 groups represented out of the hundreds of thousands.

Her social networking skills and business acumen are best suited for the organization particularly in advancing tourism to Kenya and the East African region. A mortgage banker by profession, Lilly holds a Bachelor of Science in Finance. She lives in Jersey City, New Jersey with her family.

Gift brings a wealth of experience and knowledge in management, policy, quality and process improvement. She is also a community organizer with proven ability to build positive relationships will enrich the talent of the organization. She is passionate about the Africa’s Diaspora and the tremendous potentialfor economic development of emerging markets in Africa via pooled resources and funds of the Diaspora community.She believes the Credit Union provides the platform upon which to consolidate and leverage this potential.

Gift is a current Public Health Programs and Research Consultant residing in Lynnwood, WA. Where she lives with her family. She has formal training and experience in Management and Policy, as well as in Critical Care Nursing. Gift received her training from California State University, Northridge and the University of California, Los Angeles. She has worked as a public health professional in Kenya with Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) as well as several Kenyan non-governmental organizations in HIV programs. Gift's interests are in economics and health, specifically, leadership, policy, management,quality/performance improvement, health systems strengthening and vulnerable populations.

Mary has over 10 years of experience in project management, process management and organizational leadership. She’s passionate about the Diaspora and strives to improve the common welfare of its membership especially women and children. Her leadership skills and go-getter attitude have catapulted her into various leadership positions with different organizations. She's the CEO and Co-Founder of Cam Autism Center of Excellence, a non-profit organization in USA and Kenya that provides convenient and affordable therapy and certification services for Autistic children and their families. She is also the Chair-Person at KWITU Inc. a non-profit organization that connects, empowers and supports Kenyan women living in the United States.

Mary resides in Tampa Florida with her family. She holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Management Information Systems from University of Alabama at Birmingham. Mary is certified by Toastmasters International as a Competent Leader and she's also a Microsoft Certified Professional.

Jean Ayacko

Jean is a community builder known for her staunch support for the Diaspora community and advancing its common welfare. She is also strong leader in sustaining strong coalitions as exemplified by her leadership role in the Diaspora Women movement in North America, Kenyan Women in the USA (KWITU). She is the also the Chairperson of the Charity department of KWITU Inc. Through KWITU Inc. Charity, Jean is able to advance her mission in life including giving back to the community. Jean's other passions include mentoring, encouraging and inspiring. She particularly loves to speak up for the disenfranchised. Her experience and passion for the community and excellence in entrepreneurship is sure to help propel the organization to greater success.

Jean is a graduate of Binghamton University, NY with a BSc. Nursing. She is a Charge Nurse at the Houston Methodist Hospital, Texas. During her free time she loves to travel, read inspirational books and spend some quiet time with God.

Samuel-Omwenga

Samuel brings more than 15 years of experience in international business transactions as well as a community leader and advisor of community based organizations in meeting their legal and business objectives. Samuel is the President and founder of Intrepid Investment Services International, a firm that assists institutional and individual investors interested in, or currently investing or doing business in Africa and Southeast Asia, primarily in the areas of oil and gas, energy, transportation and real estate development.

Samuel previously co-founded and was partner at LLP Enterprise, LLC, an international consultancy firm specializing in government IT and other modernization consultancy services in Africa and Southeast Asia. Prior to co-founding LLP, Samuel founded and was the principal attorney at the Law Office of Samuel N. Omwenga, P.C., a Washington, DC based law firm that for more than 12 years handled a variety of political, business and immigration legal matters for a diverse client base that included Fortune 500 companies, major political leaders, small businesses and individuals. Samuel no longer practices law but now enjoys establishing relationships for clients with his valuable connections in both business and government in respective countries in Africa and Southeast Asia.

Samuel obtained his bachelor's degree in political science from the University of Maryland, College Park as a returning student in 1994 before proceeding to the State University of New Jersey School of Law where he graduated with a Juris Doctor degree (JD) in 1997.

Angie Mugo is an experienced organizer and leader who strongly believes that the diaspora is a great asset for sustainable economic development in Kenya and Africa at large, with solutions to drive smart trade, investments and enterprises back to Africa, while providing assistance, improving access to global markets and increasing capital investment flows.Angie is especially passionate about socio-economic empowerment of women and youth in Africa. Her desire is to impart and equip the youth to gain an international perspective and promote an innovative entrepreneurship mindset. She lives by the creed, "If not now, when? If not me, who?” which she applies to initiate and launch various projects in the diaspora and Kenya that foster youth development and facilitate education including a production and mentorship Hub in Kenya.

As a Board Member at Diaspora Federal Credit Union, her organizational skills and background are instrumental in growing membership and supporting our strategic goal or revitalizing the Diaspora economy as a whole. Angie also serves as the Vice Chair of Charity affairs, KWITU Inc., part of the larger non-profit, and admin for Kenyan Women in The USA (KWITU), an exclusive forum comprised of over 10,000 women. Angie currently lives in Washington, DC Metro area with her family. By profession,she is a Registered Nurse and educator with over 8 years of nursing experience and education in various areas of healthcare.

Jacob-Ongaki

Jacob Ongaki, PhD.

PhD in Financial Management and possess MS in Finance, MBA, and BS Accounting degreed programs. Jacob brings more than 10 years of financial and operational experience in mutual fund investments, accounting, taxation, and shareholder distributions within the financial industry. Additionally, he is an educator with severalyears of experience as a professor of Finance at various universities. His specialty in mutual fund involves taxation/investment and financial analysis. Jacob believes that every $1 dollar must not lie idle but invested to maximize Firm vale and create value to stakeholder while optimizing efficiencies and providing excellent customer experience.

Jacob leverages his financial background experience to focus on Accounting and financial data analysis and operation research for strategic decision making purposes within finance, accounting, and research related roles. As he puts it, every employee has something valuable to contribute to the benefit of shareholders and growth of DCG. Jacob lives in Dallas, Texas with his family.

David has over twenty years of retail management experience and as community outreach liaison. He is customer-centric and interface with clients and affable approach saw organizations’ customer base grow in double digits year over year. David has a passion for the Kenyan Diaspora community and has organized several community focused organizations in Atlanta, Georgia and across the United States including the Kenyan Community in Atlanta, the Association of Kenya Diaspora Organizations, Inc. (AKDOI).

David doubles as the Liaison and outreach director to advance the organization’s business and community narrative to our audience. He lives in Atlanta, Georgia with his family.

Lilian has years of organizational expertise and community outreach. She has and continues to work with several Diaspora groups providing valuable guidance and structure. She is the project manager for KWITU Inc. investment team. She supports and works hard to fulfill the vision and mission of the organization. She is savvy in sales and marketing, skills that are invaluable to the organization.

By trade, Lilian has 14 years’ experience in Occupational Therapy. Lilian lives in Middletown Delaware with her family.

Gladys brings a wealth of experience in organizational structure and administration. She founded and managed several organizations including KAWACO Foundation, a 501 c 3 non –profit organization that empowers women & Children in Kenya. The organization also supports the Children’s orphanage with basic supplies.

She is also a Research analyst in Administration & Finance who has worked with fortune 500 Companies as well as with insurance Company, providing guidance to individuals making the right investment decisions via data gathering and recommendation.

Gladys holds accounting degree from the University of Rajasthan, India. Currently working on her second Degree in Finance & real Estate from the University of Arlington. She lives in Dallas with her family.

Lamech has over 15 years of business management and ownership experience that he brings to our organization. He has a passion for entrepreneurship and a keen interest in real estate with a growing portfolio in Kenya. His expertise in this arena comes in at an opportune time as the organization unveil its ambitious growth strategy in its Real Estate Division.

Born and raised in Kenya, Lamech moved to Mobile Alabama in August 2000 to pursue a diploma in computer information technology at Bishop State Community College. Later moved to the University of South Alabama where he graduated with degree in Criminal Justice in 2008 and a Masters in Public Administration from the same institution. He founded The African Resource Center, a multi-purpose business with offices in Mobile & Birmingham Alabama and Pensacola Floridathat serves the more than 10,000 African nationals in Mobile, Pensacola and Gulf Port including training and employment placement with the State of Alabama, Trucking, and Tax Services. Lamech has a passion for helping others and is instrumental in assisting refugees from Africa and volunteers translation services at hospitals, both state and federal courts and schools. Lamech lives in Mobile with his family.
